The next few months flew by with Keoni being in the hospital. Every day he was in the NICU, he showed signs of improvement. Our time with him increased, and we were able to learn how to care for him. Learning his likes and dislikes were amazing because his personality was pushing through. He hated to be swaddled, and he couldn’t stand having on clothes. He preferred skin to skin contact in nothing but his diaper.

I had found a place not far from Kalea. We both agreed that when we brought the baby home, I would be staying with her to help out as much as I could.

I was in the middle of trying to put my tour together since everything went on hold when she had the baby. Of course, it would be a little while before I went on the road, but I wanted to make sure that I had a plan and shit was going to be in order.

If I had it my way, Kalea and Keoni would be coming with me, but I hadn’t said anything to her about it yet. The more time we spent together, the more I felt myself falling in love with her, and there was nothing I could do about it. She was still talking to bitch boy Koi, but I had cut Cassidy off for the final time.

Koi’s days were numbered, so I wasn’t even sweating that. Plus, I knew Kalea was feeling the kid. He may not have believed it, but his days were numbered now that my son was coming home. The day to bring Keoni home had finally arrived, and we were both excited and a ball of fucking nerves.

We learned everything we could while in the hospital, but once we got him home, there would be no one there but us. We had been taking turns staying with him at the hospital so that he was never alone, but the night before discharge day, we both stayed.

“Hey, lil’ man. You ready to come home today?” I asked while taking Keoni out of his incubator.

Placing light kisses on his forehead, I was in awe of this baby that I had a hand in creating. The love I felt for him was a love like no other. I couldn’t explain it, but I knew I would lay anything and anybody down for him.

The nurses and doctors came in the room to go over our home instructions one last time and to say goodbye to their favorite NICU baby. The blessing in it all was that he was coming home and didn’t need to be on any oxygen or monitors. Once his team was done doting over him, they gave us our walking papers.

Walking hand in hand with Kalea and the carrier on the other hand, we left the hospital looking like a family. What we weren’t prepared for was the shitstorm of paparazzi at the front entrance.

I was pissed because I made sure that this part of my life was private, so it was mind-boggling to me as to who could have leaked this.
